OUR VISION
& ETHOS

Built on the vision of Fun, Creativity and Achievement, we are committed to making sure each and every child is provided with an exceptional start and through the very best learning experiences our pupils will become life-long confident learners ready to make a positive contribution to society.

To achieve this we will uphold the following:

Personalised Learning for Every Child

The curriculum of Parklands Primary School will recognise each child as a unique child with individual needs. It will be adapted by highly skilled professionals to meet the needs of all learners so that every child reaches their full potential. We are committed to providing the very best teaching and learning experiences, which inspire and challenge pupils to demonstrate exceptional outcomes.

Nurturing Confidence Through Arts and Sports

By celebrating individual achievements and fostering a positive attitude in a wide range of areas, we endeavour to motivate and build self-belief in all our children. Through rich and varied opportunities in Dance, Sport, Drama and Music, all our pupils will have the chance to grow their confidence and develop their aspirations for the future.

Core Values and Community Engagement

Our Values Curriculum is the core of the school and is interwoven into every element of life at our school. These core values are upheld, celebrated and promoted by all stakeholders. As a school, we strive to build strong partnerships with the local community, to ensure that every child has a mutual respect and tolerance of the many different faiths and beliefs within our society. We are committed to providing our pupils with the experiences and understanding, to ensure that they will make a positive contribution to life in Britain.

Commitment to Safety and Excellence

The staff, governors and members of the Trust are committed to providing a safe, stimulating and positive learning environment, in which all pupils can develop as individuals. We have the highest regard for safeguarding procedures, and actively seek ways to improve the provision at our school, so that it consistently demonstrates the very best practice.

OUR SCHOOL VALUES

We believe in embedding our key school values within all aspects of school life. We strive to build strong partnerships with the local community so every child has respect for the many different beliefs and faiths in our society. We are committed to providing children with the experiences and understanding so they can go on to make a positive contribution to life in Britain.

We have six values which we focus on in school:

  • Respect
  • Kindness
  • Independence
  • Determination
  • Perseverance
  • Aspiration

We learn about key people, who we feel represent these values, and consider what challenges they have overcome and how these values would have enabled them to do this. Those who are a great example of the values will receive rewards to show what an excellent role model they are, through certificates and badges.

REWARD
SYSTEMS

Children are rewarded for behaviour which embody our values. This can be through verbal recognition, stickers or earning values tokens, certificates and badges.

Values tokens get added to class jars which the children receive whole class awards for once they reach a certain level. This promotes a team approach to demonstrating school values and leads to some wonderful rewards such as extra playtimes, special sport events or even a class pizza party.

When children achieve something extraordinary within a value, in or out of school, they can achieve a values certificate in Key Stage 1 or a values badge in Key Stage 2. The badge is linked to the colour of the value and wearing this on their tie shows that a fantastic role model for that value.

The values and their colour are:
  • Red – Aspiration
  • Yellow – Kindness
  • White – Perseverance
  • Blue – Determination
  • Green – Independence
  • Orange – Respect

Once pupils have collected all six value badges they achieve a gold values badge to show they embody all of the school values.

GOLDEN
TIE

At the beginning of each academic year a boy and a girl from each class in Key Stage 2 who have demonstrated the values all the way through the previous year are rewarded with a golden tie to wear for that academic year.

Wearing a golden tie is a remarkable achievement and really symbolises what excellent values role models these children are.
